Lene Kuhl Jakobsen grew up in Denmark where she completed a degree in ceramics and worked as a potter before moving to Australia in 1985. She now lives in Melbourne and works from a homestudio making mainly functional pieces in white stoneware. Lene has won several awards and is represented in artcollections. She regularly exhibits all over Australia.Skillfully throwing all her work on the pottery wheel Lene combines the natural simplicity of the pot shaped by the hands with the restraint use of decoration. She balances the use of tactile effects and additions with the application of satiny glaze finishes in order to enhance the shape of each piece. http://www.lenekj.com/kj_contact.htm – Solo Exhibitions 2003 ‘Rainwishes’ Craft Victoria Window Exhibition 2003 ‘Kontrast’ Galerie Hors-Saison, Melbourne 2000 ‘Along the Lines’ Northcote Pottery Gallery, Melbourne 1998 ‘Influences’ Viborg, Denmark, (with Lone White, Cairns) 1997 ‘Scandinavian Origins’ Art Affairs Gallery, Melbourne 1993 ‘Searamica’ Northcote Pottery Gallery, Melbourne 1992 ‘Once Upon a Beach’ Pigtale Gallery, Melbourne – Selected Group Exhibitions since 1999 2003 ‘Future function’ Manly Art Gallery, Sydney ‘Low Tide’ Gallery Hors-Saison, Melbourne ‘Banyule Sculpture Exhibition’ (Finalist) Sills Bend, Melbourne ‘Showing off again’ Skepsi Gallery, Melbourne 2002 ‘27th Alice Craft Acquisition’ Alice Springs, NT ‘5th Australian Craft & Design Showcase’ Glen Eira, Victoria ‘Clay @ Monsalvat’ VCG Award Exhibition, Melbourne ‘Friends for Craft’ Steps Gallery, Melbourne 2001 ‘Melting Pot’ Cairns Regional Gallery ‘Excellence in Craft Awards’ Redcliffe, Qld ‘The Sydney Teapot Show’ NSW ‘26th Alice Craft Acquisition’ Alice Springs, NT ‘Bowled Over’ Freemantle Arts Centre, WA 2000 ‘Easter Exhibition’ Makers Mark Gallery, Melbourne 1999 ‘Contemporary Ceramic Design Show’ Northcote Pottery Gallery, Melbourne ‘Melting Pot’ Cairns Regional Gallery, QLD ‘Contemporary Clay’ Cowwarr Art Space, VIC ‘Australian Tactile Art Competition’ Sydney (Finalist) ‘Clayfever’ Chapel Gallery, Melbourne ‘An Eclectic Selection’ Banyule, Melbourne ‘Edge to Edge’ Freemantle, W.A. – Awards and Grants 2001 Sydney Teapot Show Award 2001 Redcliffe Excellence in Craft Award 1999 First Prize, Cairns National Ceramic Exhibition 1998 Grants from Crafts Australia, Pat Corrigan and Danish Embassy 1997 Contemporary Clay, Cowwarr Art Space, Victoria – Collections 1999 Cairns Regional Gallery Collection 1998 Banyule City Art Collection Private Collections in Australia, Denmark, Norway and New York – Memberships • Victorian Ceramic Group • Craft Victoria • NAVA • Potters Society of Australia /kj_siteinfo.htm /kj_current.htm /kj_f_cv.htm /kj_f_works_1.htm /kj_works_1.htm /kj_about.htm /kj_f_about.htm /kj_f_contact.htm /kj_f_current.htm /kj_currenttext.htm /kj_cvtext.htm /kj_cvtext5.htm
